
Buckeyes Open Pac-12 Weekend with a Win Over ASU

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes kicked off their two-legged Pac-12 homestand with a win against Arizona State.
In doubles. Justin Boulais and James Trotter rolled to an early 6-1 victory on court two. No. 1 ranked John McNally and Robert Cash faced their first loss since the championship round of the ITA Fall Championships and fell 4-6. On court three, Kyle Seelig and Cannon Kingsley pulled out a tight 7-6(3) victory in the tiebreak to clinch the doubles point for the Buckeyes.
In singles, freshman Justin Boulais got off to a hot start by rolling Makey Rakotomalala 6-2, 6-0, giving the Buckeyes a 2-0 advantage over the Sun Devils. On court one, Cannon Kingsley kept Andrea Bolla at bay with an impressive 6-2, 6-3 victory to bring the match lead to 3-0. Kyle Seelig would seize the clinching point on court four with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Christian Lerby. After deciding to play out the remainder of the matches, Robert Cash posted another win for the Buckeyes with a 6-4,6-1 victory over George Stoupe on court six pushing the lead to 5-0. No. 19 John McNally seized a 6-2, 6-4 ranked win over No. 106 Tim Ruehl extending the match lead to 6-0. To finish out the day, James Trotter fought diligently en route to a 6-4, 7-5 win over Tom LeBlanc.
The Buckeyes will take on another No. 1 ranked team for the second consecutive week as they host USC on Sunday Feb. 9th at noon in the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.
