“We’re getting a chance to play a lot of people, which is great,” Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff said. “We’re getting a lot of players on film and that’s good stuff. We have to make sure we continue to make progress, though. I felt we did that from game one to game two, but I think we kind of slid back a little this game.
“We’re a good offensive team. We can score the ball. I just didn’t think our energy was good enough, though.”
Sheldon scored 11 of Ohio State’s first 13 points and finished with 13 first quarter points as Ohio State built a 32-23 lead after one. Greene added 10 points in the quarter as both teams were on fire from the field: Ohio State shot 80 pct. for the quarter (12 of 15) while NKU did its best to stay close by shooting 56.3 pct. (9 of 16).
The Buckeyes then went on a 15-3 run in the first six minutes of the second quarter to open up a 48-26 lead and cruised to the victory from that point. It was 53-34 at the half and 74-46 at the start of the fourth quarter.
