Deets on the B1G Dubs
- Ohio State is coming off an 80-68 victory over Rutgers, a game in which the Buckeyes trailed by 16 points late in the ?rst half. The win came three days after another big win, over UCLA, by seven.
- Northwestern is 2-0 in the Big Ten after consecutive wins over Michigan State in Evanston,
79- 65, last Sunday, and Wednesday over Indiana in Bloomington, 74-67.
HO-HO-HO-HOOPS
- The Buckeyes travelled to Evanston late Friday evening, arriving about 8 p.m. This looks to be the ?rst Christmas Day travel or game in 33 years, or since the Buckeyes competed at the University of New Mexico’s Lobo Classic Dec. 26-27 in 1987. The Buckeyes defeated Long Beach State on Dec. 26 and then lost to New Mexico on the 27th.
Northwestern Series Notes
- Ohio State and Northwestern are meeting for the 168th time with the Buckeyes holding a 120-47 advantage in series wins according to Ohio State records.
- Ohio State has officially won 12 of the last 15 at NU and leads in wins on NU’s campus, 50-32.
Big Ten Board World
- Led by Kyle Young, who has had Big Ten games of eight rebounds vs. Purdue and 12 vs. Rutgers for a strong 10.0 per game average, the Buckeyes are outrebounding their Big Ten opponents by over seven per game, 37.5 to 30.0.
- E.J. Liddell, Duane Washington Jr. (10 defensive) and Musa Jallow all average at least 5.0 rebounds per game.
Statistically Speaking
- Three different Buckeyes scored career-high points vs. Rutgers: Kyle Young with 17, E.J. Liddell with 21; and Duane Washington Jr. with 22. Seth Towns contributed four points, his ?rst points as a Buckeye.
- In the second half of the win over No. 11 Rutgers, Ohio State scored 52 points, shot 16 of 28 from the ?oor (57.1), hit 17 of 21 free throws (81 pct.) and held an 18-rebound margin (26-8) in the coming back from 10 down.
- C.J. Walker (38 of 39; 97.4 pct.) and Duane Washington Jr. (26 of 28; 92.9 pct.) are combining to make 95.5 pct. of their free throw attempts this season (64 of 67).
