After waiting out a nearly two-month delay to the start of the 2020 football season, No. 3 Ohio State has certainly hit the ground running en route to an impressive 3-0 start. The Buckeyes are averaging more than 46 points per game behind an offensive machine that has produced more than 500 yards per content. The Silver Bullet defense has matched its counterpart as well as Ohio State has claimed its three wins by an average of 23-plus points.
QB Justin Fields is leading a Buckeye passing attack that is redefining efficiency. The sophomore signal caller has an many incompletions as he does TD passes (11). The dynamic duo – Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson – became the first pair of Ohio State receivers to each record back-to-back 100 yard games in the history of the program.
Those are just a few of the many highlights through only a handful of games so far this season. A big matchup awaits in The Shoe at noon next week with Indiana!
Fields was nearly flawless in his first outing of 2020. He completed 20 of 21 pass attempts for 276 yards and two scores. He rushed for another 54 yards and a score.
Ohio State allowed just 75 first half yards to Penn State on its way to a commanding 24-6 lead at the break. Olave (120) and Wilson (111) each once again topped 100 yards in the receiving column while both Fields (318 yds/4 TDs) and DT Tommy Togiai (3 sacks) collected B1G player of the week honors.
The Buckeyes exploded for four TDs in the second quarter to head to the locker room with a commanding 35-3 advantage. Ohio State held off a game Rutgers crew in the second half to pocket win No. 3. Fields again threw for 300 yards and accounted for six total TDs (5 pass/1 rush).
