BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The No. 11 Ohio State men's basketball team dropped a 66-54 decision to Indiana Saturday afternoon at Assembly Hall. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 11-5 on the year, 1-4 in the Big Ten, while the Hoosiers improve to 13-3, 3-2 in conference play.
The Buckeyes return home to square off with Nebraska at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are available for purchase online here.
Andre Wesson led Ohio State with 15 points to go along with seven boards while Kaleb Wesson tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and D.J. Carton scored 10. Devonte Green poured in 19 for the Hoosiers while Rob Phinisee chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Indiana raced out to an early 13-5 lead on a Phinisee 3-pointer at the 16:40 mark but Andre Wesson scored the next five to make it 13-10 contest with 15:52 remaining. The Hoosiers then pushed their lead to nine at 25-16 on a Green layup with 9:57 left to play in the half but Ohio State would hold Indiana without a field goal the rest of the way, going on an 18-6 run to take a 34-31 lead into the break.
Andre Wesson paced the Buckeyes with 10 points in the opening 20 minutes while Kaleb Wesson and Carton each added seven. Phinisee led Indiana, which finished the half 9-for-28 from the field, with nine points.
The Hoosiers scored the first eight points of the second half, taking a 39-34 lead with 16:44 remaining but the Buckeyes battled back to knot the score at 40-all on an E.J. Liddell layup at the 12:21 mark. However, after Ohio State took a 45-43 lead on a Carton 3-pointer with 10:24 left to play, Indiana went on a 10-0 run to regain a 53-45 advantage with 7:57 remaining before coming away with the 12-point win.
For the game, Indiana shot 40.8 percent (20-for-49) from the field while limiting the Buckeyes to 32.7 percent (17-for-52) as Ohio State turned it over 16 times to 11 for the Hoosiers.
