COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State fencing had an impressive showing at the OSU Open Saturday in French Field House. The Buckeyes placed in each of the men’s and women’s categories coming to a total of 13 medals.
The women’s squad claimed gold in all three disciplines with a convincing hold on sabre and epee. Alexanne Verret and Jessica Thow closed out epee over two fencers from TTUN bumping them to third place and freshman Julieta Toledo had an impressive gold-medal debut.

Thoughts from the Coach Donald Anthony Jr.
“Our women really did us proud taking all three gold medals. Our men fought a very valiant battle. However, Wayne State came in with some fencers we weren’t expecting to see. We just have a little bit of work to do so we’re ready for them next time.”
