COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9-ranked Ohio State women’s hockey team kicks off the 2019-20 season with two games against Saint Lawrence (0-0) this weekend. The teams will meet at 6:07 p.m. ET Friday and 3:07 p.m. ET Saturday at the OSU Ice Rink in Columbus, Ohio.
On Saturday fans are encouraged to park in the North French Field House lot or the Lane Ave garage. Free parking is indicated by the green zones on the parking map HERE.

Buckeye Notes to Know
- This is the 11th matchup between the Buckeyes and Saints. The Saints hold a 7-3 advantage over the Buckeyes. The teams split the series last season with Ohio State dropping the first game 2-3 but making a statement in the second, 6-1.
- Ohio State is coming off a winning season with an overall record of 20-13-2 and a WCHA record of 12-10-2. The Buckeyes finished third overall in the conference.
- The Buckeyes return 16 players from the 2018-19 squad, including seven of the Top 10 scorers.
- Ohio State has two returning All-WCHA First Team members, redshirt senior Jincy Dunne and junior Emma Maltais.
- The Buckeyes have four seniors and nine juniors/seniors combined. Ohio State has 15 underclassmen, including eight freshmen.

- The Buckeyes are 15-3-2 all-time in the first game of the season.
- Ohio State has a perfect opening series record in its last five outings and has won seven straight season openers.
- The Buckeyes are 17-20-3 overall in opening home series. Their last home opener loss came in 2016 against Minnesota.

Buckeye Preseason Notes
- Ohio State was selected third in the WCHA Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
- Following the WCHA preseason rankings, Ohio State was selected No. 9 in the nation by United States College Hockey Online and USA Hockey Magazine.
- Emma Maltais was voted WCHA Co-Player of the Year and received WCHA All-Team honors.
- Jincy Dunne was the league’s only unanimous coaches’ pick for All-Team honors and was the only defenseman to receive a vote in the POY category.
Ones to Watch
- Junior forward Tatum Skaggs led the team last season with 17 goals and finished fourth on the season with 26 points. She enters the season with 40 goals, putting her four goals away from being in the Top 10 in career goals at Ohio State.
- Emma Maltais tallied a team-best 43 points last season off of 15 goals and 28 assists, giving her a career high in points. She is tied for 17th place in program history with 83 career points.
- Jincy Dunne, 2019 WCHA Defensive Player of the Year, notched 28 points last season on 24 assists and four goals, tying her for the eighth highest point total by a Buckeye defenseman in a single season. Her 68 career points put her in 10th place among all OSU defensemen in program history.
- Sophomore Sophie Jaques finished last season with 21 points from 16 assists and five goals on her way to earning WCHA All-Rookie Team honors.
- Andrea Braendli notched a .939 save percentage in her rookie campaign, the fourth best in program history. Her 1.88 goals-against-average is tied for third place in the record book, as are her six shutouts. With 16 wins last season, Braendli notched the fifth highest win total for any Buckeye in a single season.

OSU vs. SLU – The Last Time
- The Buckeyes were 1-1 vs. Saint Lawrence Oct. 26-27, 2018, in the seventh season matchup.
- Ohio State nearly mounted a comeback in the series opener, but could not overcome the 2-0 first period deficit. The No. 10 Saints defeated the No. 4 Buckeyes 3-2.
- The Buckeyes dominated the Saints 6-1 in the series finale with Sara Saekkinen, Tatum Skaggs and Emma Maltais all netting goals in the contest.
The Saints
- The Saints were picked to finish sixth in this year’s ECAC Hockey preseason coaches’ poll.
- Saint Lawrence graduated two goaltenders who played nearly every minute between the pipes last year. Jaimie Rainville is the only returning goalie who saw playing time.
- Three of the top four scorers from the 2018-19 Saints team have graduated. Kalie Grant, who scored seven goals and added 13 assists last year, is the top returning scorer.
- The Saint’s first-year class includes four forwards and three defensemen.
