
Meet the Freshmen – CJ Regula

With the season closing in, get to know the Buckeye hockey newcomers.
The series continues with No. 65 CJ Regula, a defenseman from Bloomfield Hills, Mich. He joined the Buckeyes after three years in the NAHL, finishing the 2018-19 season with the Shreveport Mudbugs.
Why did you choose your number at Ohio State?
I’ve never been able to pick a number higher than 31 so I figured why not have some fun with it.
Tell us about your family …
My mom is a headhunter. My dad is an orthodontist. My brother plays hockey in the OHL for the London Knights and was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2018. My sister is still in high school and plays volleyball.
Describe your perfect off day.
Probably just relaxing with some of the guys.
When did you first start playing hockey? Did you play any other sports when you were younger?
I started playing when I was 4 and played all kinds of sports growing up, including baseball, soccer, basketball and lacrosse.
What is your favorite thing about Columbus so far?
Honestly it’s really hard to pick a favorite, everything is pretty amazing.
