After falling behind 5-0 on a Miami safety and 21-yard field goal midway through the first quarter, Ohio State responded with a seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive that was punctuated on a 26-yard J.K. Dobbins TD run. Quarterback Justin Fields was 3-3 on the drive for 22 yards and all three of his completions went to different receivers.
For the quarter, Dobbins ran six times for 40 yards while Fields completed four of five passes for 28 yards. The Buckeyes ran just 15 total offensive plays in the opening 15 minutes.

The first Ohio State possession of the second quarter began with fireworks, as Fields and WR K.J. Hill connected on a 53-yard touchdown down the left sideline to give the Buckeyes a 14-5 lead. The pass by Fields and reception by Hill were both career longs.
On the first play of Miami’s ensuing possession, Jeff Okudah intercepted a Brett Gabert pass. Three plays later, Fields ran in from seven yards and the extra point gave the Buckeyes a 21-5 lead.
Fields found the endzone for the second time on the afternoon on the next possession. He finished off a nine-play, 70-yard drive with a six-yard TD run. The extra point pushed the Ohio State lead to 28-5. It was his 15th touchdown accounted for over the first four games of the season.
Ohio State would score three more times before halftime – on a 13-yard pass from Fields to Chris Olave, a 30-yard pass from Fields to Binjimen Victor and a 10-yard strike to Olave – to complete a 42-point quarter. Fields finished the first half 14-of-21 for 223 yards and six TDs accounted for while eight different receivers caught passes. Chase Young had two sacks and two forced fumbles in the quarter while the Ohio State defense held Miami to -7 yards and allowed only one first down.

Neither team was able to score on their initial possession of the third quarter until QB Chris Chugunov hit freshman WR Garrett Wilson on a 38-yard TD pass to increase the Ohio State lead 56-5. It was Wilson’s second TD reception of the year and Chugunov’s first TD pass as a Buckeye.
Chugunov tossed another touchdown pass, this one to freshman Marcus Crowley, with 2:15 remaining the quarter to finish off a 10-play, 70-yard drive. It was Crowley’s first career touchdown. For the quarter, Ohio State outgained Miami 133-9 and did not allow a RedHawk first down. Chugunov completed six of seven passes for 86 yards and a pair of TDs.
The fourth quarter saw two Buckeye scores – a Gunnar Hoak touchdown pass to Jameson Williams at 13:59 and a 2-yard rushing score from Steele Chambers with 3:02 on the clock. The extra point failed on the second TD for the 76-5 final.
