Justin Fields
On what he has learned about the culture at Ohio State:
I can definitely tell up here that it’s a more player-friendly atmosphere. The coaches call you week-to-week or day-by-day to just check up on you, to see how you’re doing and how you’re getting used to things. I’ve enjoyed talking to coaches not all about football, but just about life.
On getting to know the system:
It’s going good. Me and the guys are building a great relationship. Coach Day is a great guy. Everyone in the weight room, they’re great coaches. I’m definitely getting acclimated and I like it up here a lot… I think coach Day is a great coach and a great offensive-minded coach.
Ryan Jacoby
An Ohio State game was the first one I ever went to my sophomore year in high school. I was blown away and said I want to come here. They offered me in March of my junior year and I was all in. I had no idea this was coming. It was a blessing.
On first experiences as a Buckeye:
It has been awesome. They’re getting after us a lot. The first week we were here we were up at 5:30 every morning, getting adjusted and working out just with one another so we learn the movements. Now we’re with the whole team.
Garrett Wilson
On the Buckeyes’ passing game last season:
Every single bit of it I loved. Two years ago I trusted what coach Day said to me about the passing game… He told me that they planned to pass the ball a lot. What they did this year was awesome and fun to watch. I’m looking forward to being a part of it.It’s super motivating to see people my age making plays on the highest stage. I’m a very confident guy, but I know I have to come in and earn my stripes in order to play.
Noah Potter
On the biggest adjustment from high school to Ohio State:
The workouts are the toughest thing. I’ve never been more pushed. I know it’s good for me. It’ll just help me process and develop.
On when he felt he was a part of the team:
I probably felt that today when we had our first mat drill. I actually felt a part of the team. Not arrived, but apart of the brotherhood.
Marcus Crowley
On the adjustment to Ohio from Florida:
We had that polar vortex. I didn’t even go outside. But I’m starting to get used to it. It’s been in the 50s this week, I’m in shorts and a t-shirt. I’m starting to get used to Ohio.
Ronnie Hickman
On moving to Columbus:
It’s a little bit colder in Ohio than New Jersey. As far as football, it’s a different speed. The intensity has picked but I’ve been playing football all my life. It’s what I’m used to and what I signed up for.
