COLUMBUS, Ohio – After claiming the program’s 38th Big Ten Conference title on Saturday night, the Ohio State Buckeyes are bound for the College Football Playoffs. The No. 2-ranked Buckeyes will face No. 3-ranked Clemson in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 8 p.m. ET in Glendale, Ariz.
The Buckeyes own a 24-25 all-time bowl record with wins in each of the last two years in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl and the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual. This is Ohio State’s third appearance in the last six years in the College Football Playoff, which is the fourth most of any school nationally.
Ohio State earned a 34-21 win over No. 8 Wisconsin on Saturday night after erasing a 21-7 halftime deficit with 27 unanswered points in the second half. Quarterback Justin Fields, who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, threw for 299 yards and three touchdowns while J.K. Dobbins rushed 33 times for 172 yards and a touchdown. K.J. Hill caught seven passes for 83 yards, including a school record 192nd career reception, and scored two second half touchdowns.
The Buckeyes rank in the top five nationally in total offense (fifth, 531.0 yards/game) and total defense (second, 247.6 yards/game) and have three wins in the last three weeks over teams ranked in the top 10 of the Associated Press Top 25.
Ohio State is no stranger to Arizona or the Fiesta Bowl. This will be the Buckeyes’ ninth Fiesta Bowl appearance and seventh since 2003. Ohio State is 5-3 all-time in the Fiesta Bowl. It will also be the Buckeyes’ fourth bowl game versus Clemson, with the most recent coming in the 2016 College Football Playoff, also in the Fiesta Bowl.
Clemson claimed its fifth consecutive ACC title on Saturday night with a 62-14 win over Virginia. The defending national champion Tigers, 13-0 on the season and on a 28-game winning streak, possess the nation’s No. 4 scoring offense (46.5 points/game) and No. 1 scoring defense (10.6 points/game).
Ticket Information – PlayStation Fiesta Bowl
Tickets are on sale now to the general public for seats in the Ohio State allotment for the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl with prices starting at $110. Members of the public who previously submitted waitlist requests will be receiving seats in the Ohio State sections based on when orders were received and will receive order confirmations via email no later than Friday, December 13. Priority ordering for donor groups, season ticket holders, Varsity O Football members and Ohio State faculty and staff concluded Tuesday, December 10 at 5 p.m. All previously submitted orders for these groups will be fulfilled and fans will receive order confirmations via email in the next 48 hours. The Ohio State Student ticket request process has concluded, and a random drawing will be conducted and results communicated via email no later than Friday, December 13.
Ticket Information – CFP National Championship Game
Public ticket waitlist is open now for the CFP National Championship game on January 13 with prices starting at $450. Members of the public who request tickets are entering a waitlist for seats in the Ohio State allotment of tickets. Waitlist requests, if fulfilled, will be assigned seats in the Ohio State sections based on when orders are received. Fans can visit https://go.osu.edu/cfp_central for more information on dates, times and to submit their requests.
Priority ordering for donor groups, season ticket holders, and Varsity O Football members is still ongoing, and will conclude Tuesday, December 17 at 5 p.m. Detailed instructions for submitting priority ticket requests were emailed to these groups in mid-November. Information regarding Faculty/Staff and Student ticket ordering processes was emailed to eligible ticket holders the evening of December 8.
