Postgame Notes
Michigan took the opening kickoff and went right down the field in seven plays and scored on a 22-yard run by Giles Jackson to take a 6-0 lead. The Buckeyes responded with an equally impressive drive as Dobbins accounted for all 79 yards, scoring on a five-yard run.
Two drives later, Fields and wide receiver Chris Olave connected on a 57-yard throw and catch extending the Ohio State lead to 14-6.
Michigan then capped the first quarter with another scoring drive, this time it was Shea Patterson hitting Donovan Peoples-Jones on a 25-yard strike to cut the lead to 14-13.
Dobbins first touchdown puts Buckeyes ahead early
The Buckeyes marched 75 yards on another nine-play drive at the start of the second quarter to retake a 21-13 lead. Dobbins had 22 yards, including a six-yard TD run, on the drive. The key play on the drive was a 41-yard reception by freshman Garrett Wilson on 2nd and 19.
Michigan drove right back down the field but the drive ended after Patterson fumble on 3rd and 9 from the OSU 12 yard line and it was recovered by senior defensive lineman Robert Landers.
The ensuing Buckeye drive stalled around midfield but the Wolverines were offsides on punt attempt and the penalty gave the Buckeyes a first down at its own 48 yard line. Two plays later, Dobbins was in the end zone for the third time in the opening half, scoring from five yards out to push the lead to 28-13 with 3:15 remaining.
Needing a good drive to wrestle back some momentum, the Wolverines hit three long pass plays to get first and goal at the OSU five yard line with with 1:12 left in the half. The Buckeye defense stood tall and only allowed a 23-yard field goal from Quinn Nordin and OSU lead 28-16 at the break.
Fields goes deep to Olave for a 57-yard score
Dobbins squeezes in from 6 yards out for the 21-13 advantage
Ohio State moved out to its largest lead of the game thanks to a pair of Fields TD strikes. The first, a 6-yard toss to K.J. Hill, completed a 6-play, 75-yard drive in just under four minutes. His second scoring pass of the stanza was hauled in by Wilson from 30 yards away, capping a 10-play, 80-yard drive.
Near the end of the quarter Michigan benefited from a muffed punt by Wilson, but could only muster one yard and settled for a 45-yard field by Quinn Nordin.

Michigan opened the quarter by completing a 7-play, 60-yard drive with a 2-yard TD dash by Hassan Haskins. Following a penalty on the first two-point try, Haskins broke two tackles and found the endzone again to convert for two points and pull the Wolverines within 42-27.
After an Ohio State punt, Michigan went for a fourth-and-one at its own 29-yard line and the Silver Bullet defense bowed up and got the stop. On the ensuing drive the Buckeyes turned the short field into points as Fields threw his fourth TD pass of the game, this time to Austin Mack from 16 yards out.
Fittingly it was Dobbins that would ultimately seal the game. His 35-yard scamper and dive up the right sideline went for his fourth touchdown and moved him past 200 yards for the day. The scoring run gave Ohio State a 56-27 lead.
