J.K. Dobbins & Chase Young Big Ten Players of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins and defensive end Chase Young have been named the Big Ten Conference’s offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.
Dobbins, who shares the honor this week with Michigan quarterback Shane Patterson, had his third game of 150 or more yards rushing against a Top 5 rush defense this season as he gained 157 yards and scored two touchdowns against Penn State and it’s No. 4 ranked rush defense.
Earlier this year Dobbins netted 172 yards and one touchdown against Michigan State’s No. 4 rated rush defense and 163 yards and two touchdowns against the top-ranked rush defense of Wisconsin. Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin are all still ranked among the Top 15 rush defenses in the nation.
Dobbins, who passed Eddie George (3,768 yards) on Saturday and is just 60 yards from passing Ezekiel Elliott (3,961 yards) for second all-time at Ohio State, is fourth nationally in rush yards (1,446 with at minimum 42 fewer carries than the three players in front of him), fifth in yards per game (131.5) and seventh in rushing TDs (15).
Young, already selected as the Walter Camp national defensive player of the week, had a career-high nine tackles, including four tackles-for-loss, three quarterback sacks and two more forced fumbles. The three sacks allowed Young to set the Ohio State single season record with 16.5 heading into this week’s game at Michigan. This is the most sacks by a Big Ten player in 21 years.
The truly exceptional 2019 season for Young now includes 38 tackles, 19.5 TFLs for losses totaling 122 yards and 16.5 quarterback sacks for losses totaling 117 yards. He has seven forced fumbles.
