Kevin Wilson, Co-Offensive Coordinator
They’re playing so hard and rolling off the ball. As the game gets going with Josh and Wyatt and Jonah inside they get a lot of confidence communicating, and you can just see them playing with momentum. It’s not pretty all the time but I think when we play you can feel us. I think you can feel us right now as we build momentum.
On Justin Fields:
He’s as skilled as anyone I’ve ever been around. But at the same time, he’s just scratching the surface.
On Luke Farrell
I think he is a better football player than he thinks he is. I’d like to see him play with a lot more confidence, swagger…I’d like to see it because I think he’s capable of being a complete tight end.
Greg Mattison: Co-Defensive Coordinator
On why coaches like working with Ryan Day:
He’s who you want to work with. When you look at this profession, you want to work with guys that have great character, that care about players more than anything, that are very genuine. They’re not egotistical. They’re looking at being the best football coach that they can be, and the best person, the best father, the best husband. To me, that’s as good as it gets. That’s what he is. I think everybody sees that who has the opportunity to work with him.
On how he immersed himself in Ohio State’s culture:
I think I’ve played against Ohio State maybe 15 times. I didn’t have to study anything about Ohio State. I know a lot about Ohio State. I knew a lot about every time I had the opportunity to play against them. I knew it was a tremendous program. This is as good as it gets. I didn’t have to read anything about it, believe me. I knew very well about this program.
On depth of the defense:
We’re trying to play anybody that has earned the right to play. Our kids practice extremely hard. They’ve bought in…so therefore when it gets time when someone gets a little tired or somebody needs to come off, its great to be able to put someone else in there, and then they step forward, and you’re seeing that more and more.
