COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team is set to take the court in its final midweek match when it visits No. 6 Minnesota Wednesday for a 7 p.m. CT/8 p.m. ET tilt.

HISTORY WITH THE GOLDEN GOPHERS
The Buckeyes and Golden Gophers have faced off 80 times since 1975. Minnesota owns a 46-34 advantage in the all-time series, having won the last six meetings. Ohio State hosted the lone meeting last season and pushed the Gophers to five sets. Bia Franklin posted career highs in kills (16), points (20) and service aces (4) while Becca Mauer chipped in a career-best 14.5 points and 13 kills. Camry Halm had a career-best 32 digs.
SCOUTING REPORT
Minnesota (15-3, 9-1 B1G) is on a four-match win streak after taking down Michigan State, 3-1, Sunday afternoon. The Gophers lead the Big Ten and rank eighth in the nation with 13.35 assists per set. Minnesota is also one of the top teams in the country behind 14.27 kills per set (12th) and 2.80 blocks per set (13th). Individually, Regan Pittman is averaging 1.40 blocks per set to stand 17th and her .393 hitting clip is good enough for 35th nationally.
LAST TIME OUT
Ohio State (11-11, 4-6 B1G) came up short to No. 17 Illinois in straight sets Saturday night. Gabby Gonzales recorded the second double-double of her career (12 kills, 10 digs). Elle Sandbothe joined her in double figures with 10 kills. Jenaisya Moore tallied nine kills, four digs and two blocks. Becca Mauer added 23 assists and dug three balls while Kylie Murr had a match-high 19 digs. Lauren Witte had seven kills and three rejections and Mac Podraza chipped in 14 helpers, two digs and two blocks. Bia Franklin and Hanna Gruensfelder earned 11 and seven digs, respectively, on the night.

Ohio State averages 13.47 kills per set to sit at No. 43 in the national rankings, paced by Jenaisya Moore at 3.62 kills per set. Kylie Murr leads the Big Ten and is 28th in the country behind 5.01 digs per set. Becca Mauer has taken over setting duties and averages 8.20 assists per set. At the net, 10 Buckeyes have double-digit blocks – Lauren Witte (53), Elle Sandbothe (52), Mac Podraza (31), Jordan Fry (29), Moore (21), Adria Powell (19), Mia Grunze (18), Gabby Gonzales (14), Mauer (12) and Vanja Bukilic (10).

In Big Ten matches only, Gabby Gonzales (3.38) and Jenaisya Moore (3.25) rank eighth and 10th, respectively, in kills per set. Kylie Murr’s 4.67 digs per set checks in at No. 1 while Becca Mauer’s 9.03 assists per set stands ninth. As a team, Ohio State is fourth in the league with 15.06 digs per set.

Ohio State is currently No. 50 is the latest NCAA RPI rankings released on Monday, Oct. 28. The Buckeyes join nine other Big Ten volleyball teams ranked in the top 60 of the NCAA RPI – No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 7 Nebraska, No. 9 Minnesota, No. 12 Penn State, No. 18 Purdue, No. 36 Illinois, No. 40 Michigan, No. 53 Michigan State and No. 58 Iowa.
