
Justin Fields Added to Manning Award Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore quarterback Justin Fields, who is second nationally in touchdowns responsible for with 30, has been added to the 2019 Manning Award Watch List.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting. Finalists for the honor will be determined by a selected panel of national college football media, as well as each of the Mannings. It will be released on Thursday, December 5 and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship in New Orleans on January 13.
In his first year as a starter, Fields has thrown for 1,492 yards and 22 touchdowns against just one interception while rushing for eight scores. His 70.7 completion percentage (116-of-164) is second in the Big Ten and 10th best in the country.
With Fields directing the Ohio State offense, the Buckeyes are No. 3 nationally in scoring offense (49.7) and No. 5 in total offense (526.7). They’ve scored 40 or more points and topped 500 or more yards of total offense in six of seven games thus far.
