Scenes from Friday: Northwestern
10/19/2019 11:53:08 AM | Football
The Buckeyes went to Northwestern for a special Friday prime time Big Ten matchup. The result was the same as it has been all season. The Buckeyes put on another incredible show from every facet of the roster. What Ohio State did AGAIN, was put everyone on notice.
Take a visual tour of the festivities that encompassed our 52-3 victory over Northwestern.
Ryan Day Field
You know the deal! Every Game is a Home Game, but this week was different. Everyone knows that Ohio State fans travel well, but on this Friday night you all took over. It was a sea of red in Evanston that helped pushed the Buckeyes and even made us rethink the name of the field.

Putting numbers on the board
Week after week the Buckeyes have been putting up impressive numbers. This week was different. We’re talking record breaking numbers now, as this team is starting to build a legacy in Ohio State history.
- J.K. Dobbins is now just 53 yards away from 1,000 on the season which would make him the first player in school history to have 1,000 yards as a freshman, sophomore and junior.
- Dobbins’ 68-yard run in the second quarter was his fourth this season of 50 yards or more: 56 vs. Indiana; 60 vs. Cincinnati; 67 vs. Michigan State; and 68 vs. Northwestern.
- Dobbins jumped up to No. 5 in school history in career rushing yards, passing both Braxton Miller (2011-15) and Beanie Wells (2006-08) in this game.

- Justin Fields was 18-of-23 for 194 and four touchdowns on the night.
- He now has 22 touchdown passes on the season which ranks 10th in OSU single-season history.
- Fields has accounted for 30 touchdowns this season. That is one more than Dwayne Haskins had last season through seven games. Haskins went on to set an OSU single-season record with 54 touchdowns responsible for last season.

Blake Haubeil’s 55-yard field goal to close out the second quarter was the second-longest in school history and the longest in 15 years. It was a career high for Haubeil, and the kick itself looked like it could have been good from even farther away.

- K.J. Hill has now caught a pass in 40 consecutive games.
- Hill is only 10 yards away from breaking 2,000 on his career. He would be the 7th receiver in program history to do so.

- Ohio State’s defense held its seventh straight opponent to 300 yards or less of total offense.
- Ohio State has outscored its six opponents 231-35 in the first half this season.
- The Buckeyes have scored at least 20 points in the second quarter in each of its last six games.

Running up the score
From the very beginning, the Buckeyes looked to establish the run. Dobbins had another 100-yard game on the ground and three Ohio State running backs all had runs of over 50-yards.
BE HERE.
Week after week, the Buckeyes have put on the best show in the nation. Next time, it could be the game of the year. Make sure you’re in attendance to see it.

White Belt Mentality
Ryan Day’s message to the team this week was the idea of a “White Belt Mentality.” Ohio State has been impressive all season, but still has major goals left to reach this season. With that in mind, this team once again looked beyond focused against Northwestern. With everything still to prove, the Buckeyes took nothing for granted.
Social Reacts
I just witnessed 3/4 of the Northwestern student section leave simultaneously. I can only assume they’re heading to the library.
