COLUMBUS, Ohio – JJ Wolf is your 2019 ATP Columbus Challenger champion after defeating Mikael Torpegaard 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4 in a hard fought, intense match on Sunday.
Torpegaard took the first set 7-6(4). Wolf and Torpegaard started such a highly-anticipated final with a back and forth set. Torpegaard would come out on top in the first set, but the crowd witnessed a fantastic start to the match.
Wolf would respond in the second set going up 4-1 quickly before battling it out to a 6-3 win. Wolf began to retain and build momentum as the match progressed, and his performance in the second set displayed that.
The third set proved to be similar to the first set, with Torpegaard giving Wolf everything he could handle. Wolf would win the third and final set 6-4, but it didn’t come easy. Torpegaard played a great match and did not go down easy.
Wolf was crowned champion to cap off a dominant week. This is Wolf’s first Columbus Challenger title and it will look nice next to his ITA All-American Championships title he won in October.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ask and you shall receive Buckeye nation. The ATP Columbus Challenger Final is set with both Mikael Torpegaard and JJ Wolf winning their semifinal matches.
Former Ohio State star Torpegaard clinched his spot in the final first with a nice 6-3, 7-5 victory over Bernabe Zapata Miralles on Saturday. Torpegaard recorded nine aces to Miralles’ two. In addition, Torpegaard won 85% of his first serve points.
JJ Wolf followed Torpegaard to the final when he faced Scott Griekspoor. Wolf defeated Griekspoor 6-1, 6-3 on Saturday in a match in which Wolf always felt in control. Wolf recorded 14 aces on the day.
Torpegaard and Wolf will battle for the Columbus Challenger title on Sunday at noon at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes are gaining momentum as both JJ Wolf and Mikael Torpegaard have advanced to the ATP Columbus Challenger semifinals.
Torpegaard kicked the day of with a hard-fought 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-0 win over Vincent Millot. The former Ohio State all-american started the match with a frustrating first set, but battled back to take the second. The third and deciding set was all Torpegaard as he dominated Millot for the match victory.
Torpegaard will take on Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the semifinals on Saturday.
Joining Torpegaard was JJ Wolf after after a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jan Choinski in the quartefinals. Wolf has only lost one set this entire week and will next face Scott Griekspoor on Saturday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – It couldn’t have been a better day for the Buckeyes at the ATP Columbus Challenger as both JJ Wolf and Mikael Torpegaard advanced to the quarterfinals in dominant fashion.
Former Ohio State star Torpegaard started the show with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over No. 3 seed Norbert Gombos. Gombos ranks No. 247 in the world, but it was the Danish Torpegaard who came out on top.
Success for the Buckeyes continued when JJ Wolf matched up with No. 2 seed Filip Peliwo. Wolf wasted no time and never let Peliwo, ranked No. 244 in the world, get comfortable in the match. Wolf won straight sets 6-0, 6-0, dominating the Canadian in the round of 16 match.
On Friday at 12:00 pm EST, Torpegaard will take on Vincent Millot in the quarterfinals. Wolf will follow with a late afternoon showdown against Jan Choinski.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tough day for Ohio State at the Columbus ATP Challenger as three Buckeye tandems are defeated in the opening round of the doubles main draw.
The pairing of John McNally and Kyle Seelig were matched up with the No. 3 seed pair of Andrea Vavassori and Goncalo Oliviera. They were defeated 6-4, 6-3.
Senior tandem of Martin Joyce and Hunter Tubert were able to win their first set 6-2, and make it close in the second set, but ultimately lost 6-2, 5-7, 7-10 to Luis Martinez and Andreas Siljestrom.
Alex Kobelt and James Trotter were also able to win their first set but would lost consecutive sets, falling to Evan King and Hunter Reese 6-2, 4-6, 7-10.
On Thursday, JJ Wolf and Mikael Torpegaard will compete in the round of 16 in the singles main draw.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – JJ Wolf and Mikael Torpegaard are on to the round of 16 at the ATP Columbus Challenger after achieving victory on Tuesday at the Varsity Tennis Center.
After a 6-2, 7-6(4) victory over Stefan Kozlov on Monday, Wolf followed it up with a win over No. 15 seed Gianluca Mager 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Former Buckeye Torpegaard joined Wolf in the round of 16 with a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory over No. 13 seed Jose Hernandez-Fernandez in the second round.
Up next for Wold is No. 2 seed Filip Peliwo in the quarterfinals while Torpegaard faces No. 3 seed Norbert Gombos.
Both matches will be held on January 10 with match times to be determined.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – An okay day for Ohio State at the ATP Columbus Challenger held at the Varsity Tennis Center in Columbus as JJ Wolf and former Buckeye star Mikael Torpegaard were victorious while Alex Kobelt, Kyle Seelig and Martin Joyce fell in the opening round.
The Challenger kicked off with singles play on Monday. JJ Wolf defeated Stefan Kozlov 6-2, 7-6(4) in the round of 64 while Torpegaard defeated Ante Pavic 6-3, 7-5.
Wolf will take on Gianluca Mager in the second round while Torpegaard will face Jose Hernandez-Fernandez.
Alex Kobelt fell in the qualifying round to Joao Menezes 5-7, 6-4, 5-7.
Kyle Seelig was defeated in the round of 64 1-6, 3-6 by Jelle Sels while Martin Joyce was defeated by Ricardo Ojeda Lara 4-6, 6-2, 4-6.
In addition, John McNally was also on the end of a 2-6, 2-6 defeat to Roberto Ortega-Olmedo.
