Parris Campbell
On WR core improvements:
I’m extremely proud of the work we put in. We kind of expected this coming into this season because we’re the most experienced on the team. It came with a lot of hard work. We’re in the position that we want to be in. We want to be the unit that’s depended on in big-time games.
On Penn State game:
We know what’s at stake. We’re saying that the most prepared team will win this game and that stands true. The wideout unit knows how to prepare for big games.
On Beaver Stadium atmosphere:
There’s not really a way to emulate that environment just because of how crazy it is. I think you have to stay on guys about preparing the way we know how to prepare.
Drue Chrisman
On special teams focus in practice:
This week we’re making sure there are no weak links. We have to find a way to get to their spot. We really think it’s going to come down to that.
On playing Penn State:
I like to treat every game the same. I will probably have a chance to punt more. I hope I don’t punt at all, but I like to treat every game the same.
On atmosphere at Beaver Stadium:
I haven’t been there but I’ve heard the stories. We’ll watch the film and when a big play happens you can see the camera actually shake with how loud it is and people jumping, but I’m looking forward to it.
Dre’Mont Jones
On practice this week:
Practice wise, it’s been the same intensity as always: crazy, hard, and tiring. The sample music is something we do. We turn it up to the highest volume and try to communicate with teammates. It helps because in a game you’re used to it. They’re screaming and going crazy, then in the game it’s like we’re already acclimated.
On Penn State’s offense:
I have to be more cautious on what I do. Instead of just flying up field I have to be more styled in the run because they have a couple of running backs and a quarterback that can bounce in any gap.
Terry McLaurin
On his relationship with Haskins:
We know where one another will be on the field, especially on the deep balls. I’ve caught a couple in the slot which is different, but he knows where I’m going to be and I know where’s he’s going to put it.
On his blocking:
Obviously you put in a lot of work to make plays and score touchdowns, which is fun and fulfilling, but making plays like the block makes you different. There are a lot of guys in the country that can score and run and catch touchdowns, but how many can take two on a block on a bubble?
On Penn State’s defense:
We have to execute when we’re in the red zone. We have to get seven points instead of three and that’s part of our plan to win. We just have to execute at a high level, take our shots and we have to hit them. In big games that’s the biggest thing, you have to capitalize every time you touch the ball.
Having a veteran group doesn’t mean anything if you’re not executing at a high level. We truly feel like anyone can have a day. We really trust everybody whose out there and there’s really not drop off. I know 2014 had their guys but we truly have guys that just flow in and out. We expected it coming and we put in the type of work to have the year that we’re having.
Dwayne Haskins
On excitement for the game:
I look forward to every game but a game like this makes everything so much more worth it. I’m definitely excited to play at Happy Valley on Saturday. Trace (McSorley) and I used to work out together back in high school. The opportunity to compete against him blow for blow, I’m excited for it.
On leadership:
I’ve always felt like I’ve been a good leader. As far as a quarterback goes, the offensive line looks to you. If you get hit, they don’t want to see you shaken up and they don’t want to see you upset.
Tuf Borland
On Penn State’s offense:
Penn State has a great offense. They’re a talented team and we have our work cut out for us. We’ll be up for the challenge.
On the defense:
Every defense has stuff they need to work on. We’re no exception. We need to clean it up this week with an opponent like Penn State. With a good week of practice, I think we can do that.
Michael Jordan
On Penn State’s defensive line:
The (Penn State) D-Line is really good, they always are. Since my freshman year they’ve always had quick twitch guys and I look forward to playing against those guys again. It’s really a lot of fun.
On confidence level with Dwayne Haskins:
Dwayne is focused. Like I said before he’s going to get the job done. He’s been like that since day one.
Thayer Munford
On the message from leaders:
Isaiah (Prince) told me that everyone needs to stay focused; block out the noise and pay attention to what you have to do. They’ll be doing some defensive shifting, at the same time pay attention.
Kevin Wilson
On Penn State’s defense:
They’ve got skill and they’re going to make plays. They have for years. Bottom line we just have to find a way. You just have to go play and adjust. Last year we had to come from behind. Just adjust and play the game.
On what it takes to win:
It takes a whole group to be successful. Its going to take everybody. It’s going to take more than eleven guys. We play eleven but it’s going to take a lot of guys Saturday night in State College.
