800 Free Relay Takes Fifth to Open Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State earned a fifth-place finish to open the 2018 Women’s Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships in the 800 freestyle relay. Kristen Romano, Meg Bailey, Katie Trace and Kathrin Demler combined for a time of 7:04.14 to finish off day one. Of the eight relay swimmers on day one, four of them – Gresser, Rayner, Trace and Romano – were competing at their first conference meet.
Ohio State initially set the school record in the 200 medley relay for a third-place finish, but they were later disqualified for leaving early.
Day two begins with preliminary action in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday morning. Diving will begin at 1:30 p.m.
