On Washington head coach Chris Petersen
I have known Coach Peterson for a long time. I studied him at Boise State. What he did there is phenomenal. Same at Washington. We have to make sure we are on our game.Â
On keys to winning the game
Field position. How you cover kicks. How you cover punts and execute special team. It’s in our plan to win. They have a 1,000-yard running back. If we do not contain him, it is going to be a bad day for Ohio State.Â
On the game
The last four or five games, I feel like I had that vocal leadership. We didn’t get in the playoffs and I didn’t get the Heisman so definitely going into this game to give it our best shot. Looking forward to seeing all our fans and the all red in the stands.Â
On turning pro
I haven’t really thought about that (decision). This game is an opportunity to showcase my ability and I don’t think this game is a make or break on that subject.Â
On playing in the Rose Bowl
Talking to guys who have played in this game, they say it is one of the best to play in. It is Coach Meyer’s last game and we have to go out on a good note. He has been so influential on my life.Â
On Haskins leadership
He’s grown a lot especially with all the pressure being on him stepping into J.T. Barrett’s shoes – a guy who set every Ohio State record there was. He is going to have a successful career whether he comes back next year or goes into to the next part of his career.Â
On Washington
They’re steady. An NFL-based defense. They are a talented group, especially in the secondary. This will be one of our biggest tests this season.Â
On UW QB Jake BrowningÂ
He’s definitely one of (the best in the country). He’s very talented, especially throwing the ball. He’s mobile. He’s maybe like a Shea Patterson of Michigan. He is a unique QB; a unique player.Â
