Six to Semifinals Lift Ohio State Into First Place

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Six Buckeyes reached the semifinals at the 2018 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, fueling Ohio State’s top standing after Day One of the 43-team tournament. The Buckeyes own a 10.5-point edge over second place Missouri entering the second of two competition days. Buckeye semifinalists include: Luke Pletcher (133 lbs), Joey McKenna (141), Micah Jordan (149), Myles Martin (184), Kollin Moore (197) and Chase Singletary (HWT).

In addition to the six semifinalists, Ke-Shawn Hayes remains in contention for third place at 157 pounds. Nebraska and Northern Iowa are second-best with four semifinalists each.

Pletcher, Jordan, Martin and Singletary each tallied three wins while McKenna and Moore needed four triumphs to earn semifinalist status after drawing into pigtail matches. All six contributed at least one bonus point-garnering performance. McKenna, Jordan and Martin all dropped a nationally-ranked opponent, and Singletary knocked off back-to-back Top-15 adversaries (including a fall).
Ke-Shawn Hayes went 3-1 on the day, outscoring the opposition 38-7. He is three more wins away from clinching a spot in the third-place bout.
Wrestling resumes Saturday (Dec. 1) at noon ET.
