COLUMBUS, Ohio – On a breezy Sunday in Bloomington, Ind., the No. 17 Ohio State men’s soccer team fell, 2-0, at No. 1 Indiana at Bill Armstrong Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 7-5-1 overall and 3-3 in Big Ten play, while the Hoosiers improve to 12-0-2 overall and 4-0-2 in conference action.
HOOSIERS SCORE IN THE 21ST MINUTE
Indiana controlled the majority of possession in the first half and scored on a breakaway play in the 21st minute. Mason Toye received a through ball by Griffan Dorsey at midfield and sprinted by the OSU backline before finishing to the right post to score his seventh goal of the season.
KOHL HITS CROSSBAR
Ohio State was outshot, 9-3, in the first half. Nate Kohl had a strike from distance saved by IU goalkeeper Trey Muse at 22:16. After the shot, the following corner was cleared out by the IU defense. The Buckeyes gained some momentum late in the first half off a counter when Kohl rattled the crossbar in the 39th minute.
TOYE STRIKES AGAIN
The Indiana forward scored his second of the match in the 56th minute when Andrew Gutman sent a cross in before Toye finished from the right side from six yards out.
SECOND HALF ACTION
Indiana finished with a 20-4 advantage in shots and 7-4 lead in corners. Ohio State’s lone shot of the second half was in the 76th minute off a corner when Niall Logue hit a volley to the far post but it went wide of the frame. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Parker Siegfried made five saves vs. the Hoosiers, including four in the second half. He falls to 7-5-1 on the year. Muse collected his eighth straight shutout in the win and improves to 12-0-2 in 2017.
