Buckeyes Scorch Through Second Round at Big Ten Championships – Ohio State Buckeyes

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ohio State University women’s golf team tore through The Fort Golf Resort on Day Two of the Big Ten Championships, firing a 7-under 281 to climb seven slots in the team standings up into second place entering Sunday’s final round. Not only did the Buckeyes shave 10 strokes off their opening round 291, but also bested the next closest team by five shots in Round 2.
Junior teammates Katja Pogacar and Jessica Porvasnik have each grabbed a share of eighth place on the individual leaderboard. Pogacar reached the top-10 with rounds of 69-72 while Porvasnik made her progress with a pair of scores under par (71-70). The OSU duo (-3) sits four shots back from event leader Brooke Ferrell of Wisconsin (-7).
Pogacar offset three bogies with three birdies for an even-par 72. Meanwhile, Porvasnik, Rio Watanabe and Niki Schroeder each downed four birdies and joined Pogacar in contributing to the team tally. Porvasnik and Watanabe registered two bogies apiece to finish at 2-under (70) while Schroeder paced the squad at 3-under (69) after posting a lone bogey.
Following an afternoon which saw all four team score contributors shoot under or at par, the Buckeyes are atop the tourney ranking with 149 pars (seven more than any other team). Ohio State’s biggest success has come on Par 3’s (+4) and Par 5’s (-9), slotted second in both scoring categories.
