Buckeyes Tee Off Spring Season at Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge – Ohio State Buckeyes

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Ohio State University women’s golf team teed it up for the first time in 2016, recording a 301 (+17) team total at the 21st annual Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. Ohio State sits in 11th place with 18 of 54 holes in the books.
Katja Pogacar, slotted at the top of the Buckeye lineup, finished the day there as well. Her 3-over 74 results in a share of 27th place on the overall individual leaderboard. Pogacar dropped in three birdies on the day, matched by junior teammate Jessica Porvasnik. A double bogey on the 13th held Porvasnik a stroke back from Pogacar at 4-over (75) and a earned her a share of 36th place overall.
Rio Watanabe and Jaclyn Lee both carded rounds of 76 (+5). Watanabe capped off a steady Back 9 by going `up and down’ on the final hole. Lee’s scores were `up and down’ throughout as three birdies were met by a pair of double bogeys and a triple bogey. The Buckeye tandem is among a large group of players tied for 42nd place entering Monday’s competition.
Niki Schroeder, playing as an individual, came in at 7-over (78) and is tied for 61st place. Zoe-Beth Brake rounded out the OSU contingency with an 11-over 82 in the opening round.
