Columbus, Ohio—Ohio State wrapped up the 2016 iteration of its Winter Invitational on Sunday, concluding its regular season schedule on a high note.
A day after posting an NCAA B time yesterday in the 100 backstroke, freshman Mikayla Murphy posted another one during the morning session today, this time in the 200 backstroke. Her time of 1:57.33 was over three seconds faster than anyone else in the field and it was nearly 10 seconds faster than her previous best time this season.
With a time of 2:21.27 in the 200 breaststroke, Stephanie Samudro was the fastest swimmer and also posted a new personal best by nearly three seconds.
The performances cap a great regular season for Ohio State that saw several notable performances and over twice as many NCAA provisional qualifiers as last season. Next on the docket: the 2016 Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. More information on that event to follow.
