Athletes of the Week
- Nichelle Prince, Women’s Soccer
- Prince netted two goals against Iowa in the Buckeyes’ 3-1 win on Friday, bringing her season total to five. It was the second multi-goal game of her career.
- Yaw Amankwa, Men’s Soccer
- Recorded a goal and an assist in Ohio State’s 2-0 victory over Dayton on Friday.
No. 1 Football (4-0)
- Adolphus Washington’s 20-yard touchdown off of an interception made it three-consecutive games with a defensive score for the Buckeyes, while Cardale Jones’ 288 passing yards marked a career-high in Ohio State’s 38-12 victory over Western Michigan.
No. 12 Women’s Volleyball (12-2. 1-1 B1G)
- Ohio State earned its first Big Ten victory of the season on Sunday, taking down the 16th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers in five sets at St. John Arena. In the fifth and final set the team erupted for 12 kills at a .458 attacking rate.
Field Hockey (6-3, 2-0 B1G)
- The 2-1 victory over Penn State on Sunday gave Ohio State its second conference win of the season in thrilling fashion. Morgan Kile scored on a breakaway nine minutes into double overtime for her first goal of the season, sealing the win for the Buckeyes.
- At 6-3, the squad is off to its best start since 2010 and has won five of its last six contests.
Women’s Soccer (6-3-2, 1-2-1 B1G)
- A 3-1 win over Iowa in Iowa City gave Ohio State its first B1G victory of the year on Friday. Prince scored twice and Nikki Walts added a goal on a free kick to propel the Buckeyes to their sixth win of the season.
Men’s Soccer (2-4-2, 0-1-1 B1G)
- The Buckeyes earned a 2-0 victory over in-state foe Dayton on Friday night, extending their unbeaten streak to three matches. Amankwa and Christian Soldat scored for Ohio State.
- The team was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) as 2014-15 Collegiate Team Academic Award winners. This marked the third time under head coach John Bluem that Ohio State has been honored by the NSCAA.
Rifle
- The Buckeyes got their 2015-16 season underway in Reno, Nev., over the weekend with a 4658 to 4638 win over Nevada. The 4658 score was the highest opening match score in program history and ranks as the teams’ fourth-best score all-time.
Men’s Golf
- Josh Wick will enter the final day of the Windon Memorial tied for fourth place on the individual scoreboard. Ohio State is also tied for fourth in the team standings after 36 holes complete. Wick sits 4-under (138) and just three strokes back from the 36-hole leader Stuart McDonald (-7) of Purdue.
- Prior to that, team ended on a high note at the Inverness Intercollegiate, carding the second-lowest round of the event with a 289 on the final day. The 5-over effort lifted the Buckeyes into sixth place overall in the 15-team field, three slots higher than they had entered Tuesday’s final 18 holes. Tee-k Kelly led the way individually, shooting a 218 (+5) for the tournament, putting himself in a tie for sixth.
Women’s Golf
- Four Buckeyes placed inside the top-25 individually at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship as the team finished fourth in the 14-team competition. All six Buckeyes competing concluded the day in the upper half of the 78-player field.
- Freshman Niki Schroeder’s 217 (+4) was the lowest on the team and placed her in the top-15 for the tournament.
