Boren a semifinalist for William V. Campbell Trophy – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior center Jacoby Boren was today named a semifinalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes the best football scholar-athlete in the nation. The award is presented by Fidelity Investments for the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Football Hall of Fame.
The NFF will announce 15 finalists for the Campbell Trophy on Oct. 29, and each of them will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship in addition to being recognized as an NFF and College Football Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete. Ohio State ranks second nationally with 20 NFF Scholar-Athletes.

Boren is one of 135 individuals from all levels of play in the NCAA and the NAIA to be named a semifinalist. Each must meet the highest of standards based on their performance in the classroom, on the field and as outstanding leaders and citizens in the community.
A second-team Academic All-American last year, Boren is a two-time Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar (2013-14 and 2014-15) for having a grade point average above 3.70 and one of only 32 Big Ten football players so honored last year. He is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.
Boren currently carries a 3.83 grade point average and is majoring in sustainable plant systems with a minor in agricultural systems management.
Boren has played in 32 consecutive games for the Buckeyes and has started 18 consecutive games at center. The 6-2, 285-pounder from Pickerington, Ohio and Pickerington Central High School is on the “watch list” for the 2015 Rimington Trophy, which is awarded annually to the nation’s outstanding center.
The 58th NFF Annual Awards Dinner will be held Dec. 8 in New York City, at which time the winner of the William V. Campbell Trophy will be announced and his postgraduate scholarship will be increased to $25,000.
