COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 2015 season is just over two weeks away (17 days to be exact), and Ohio State will head to Wyoming for the Rumble in the Rockies for a three-match non-conference weekend against the Cowgirls, Butler and South Dakota (August 28-29).
Katie Mitchell, a senior outside hitter, dons the No. 17 jersey and OhioStateBuckeyes.com caught up with her for a few questions in the second entry of a ‘Countdown Close-up’ series in anticipation of the upcoming season.

Mitchell has played in 75 matches in her first three seasons as a Buckeye, racking up 349 kills, 111 digs and 58 blocks. She toed the service line for the final four points of a five-set victory at Nebraska last season, ripping an ace to go ahead 15-14 in the final frame. Earlier in the year, Mitchell was named to the All-Miami University Invitational; thanks in large part to a 27-point explosion against the RedHawks which tied for the most in four-set match by any Big Ten player in 2014.
In addition to her contributions on the court, she has also become a vital member of the overall Athletics Department efforts via internships with Fan Experience, Administration and Event Management.
