COLUMBUS, Ohio — During the nonconference portion of its 2015-16 schedule, the Ohio State men’s hockey team will host six regular season games and an exhibition tilt in Value City Arena, while traveling for six games and a tournament in December. The Big Ten Conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
Season tickets and Big Ten packages for new accounts are on sale now and can be secured with a deposit for as little as $50 a seat. Fans interested in becoming a season ticket or Big Ten package holder can contact the Ohio State Athletic Ticket Sales Department at 1-800-GOBUCKS (select option 2) or AthleticSales@osu.edu for pricing, details and information. Information on season ticket renewals and single game tickets will be released soon.
The Buckeyes’ 2015-16 season opens with an exhibition game vs. Brock Oct. 3 before home-and-home series vs. instate foes Bowling Green and Miami the next two weeks. The Buckeyes and Falcons will meet in Columbus Oct. 9 and in Bowling Green Oct. 10. The teams split a home-and-home series in 2014-15, with each squad posting a 3-2 win on the road. The Buckeyes and Redhawks, a 2015 NCAA Tournament team and the 2015 National Collegiate Hockey Conference tournament champion, will face off in Columbus Oct. 16 and in Oxford Oct. 17.
Ohio State will then take on Providence, the 2015 NCAA champion, Oct. 23-24 in a road series. The Buckeyes and Friars opened the regular season in Columbus in 2014-15, with each team posting a win in overtime (OSU 5-4 OT, PC 2-1 OT).
The Buckeyes will host the next two series in Value City Arena, taking on Mercyhurst Oct. 30-31 and Canisius Nov. 13-14. The Buckeyes were 1-0-1 in road series against both the Lakers and Golden Griffins last season.
The final nonconference series is set for Thanksgiving weekend, when the Buckeyes will travel for two games at Omaha, a 2015 Frozen Four team. The Mavericks won two games in Columbus last season.
In late December, the Buckeyes will head south for the Florida College Hockey Classic in Estero, Fla. It will mark the Buckeyes’ fifth appearance in the tournament. Ohio State participated the first four years it was held, beginning in December 2000. The Buckeyes’ last trip was in December 2003, when they defeated Maine but fell to Cornell in overtime.
