The International Federation of Emoji Standards and Practices has suspended Ohio State athletics and its lead social media voice, Brutus Buckeye, from executing messaging containing the “trophy emoji” for an undetermined timeframe.
The IFESP has determined Ohio State athletics and Mr. Buckeye have over-utilized the trophy emoji since Dec. 6 following its football team’s 59-0 victory over Wisconsin to claim the 2015 B1G Championship. Ensuing excessive emoji applications occurred on the following dates:
The Entire month of January: After Buckeye football’s Sugar Bowl win vs Alabama and its triumph in the first College Football Playoff Championship vs Oregon
February: Following the Ohio State women’s track and wrestling teams winning the Big Ten titles
March: During the wrestling team’s run to Ohio State’s first national championship in the sport; As pistol won its second-consecutive national crown; And after synchronized swimming claimed U.S. Collegiate championship No. 29
In all, the IFESP has tallied the trophy emoji usage by Ohio State as termed “into the hundreds and approaching four figures.
