COLUMBUS, Ohio — D’Angelo Russell was named a 2015 First Team Associated Press First Team All-American Monday.
Russell is now a consensus All-American, making the first team on the Sporting News, United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Associated Press All-America squads.
Russell is the 12th consensus All-American in Ohio State history and the fifth for Thad Matta during his 11-year tenure as head coach of the Buckeyes. Greg Oden (2007), Evan Turner (2010), Jared Sullinger (2011, 2012) and Russell (2015) all earned the honor with Matta as head coach of the Buckeyes.
The 2015 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Russell set an Ohio State freshman record in leading the Buckeyes in scoring with 675 points and a 19.3 ppg. scoring average.
