PALOS VERDES, CALIF. – The Ohio State women’s golf team teed off the 20th Annual Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Sunday in Palos Verdes, California, carding a 305 in the first round of competition. The Buckeyes, who are competing against an elite field with 12 of their 16 opponents ranked in the Top 35, are in 15th place heading into tomorrow’s second round action.
Baylor leads the field after shooting a 281 (-3) in the first round. Four players are tied for first on the individual leaderboard after posting a 3-under 68 on the day, including Southern California’s Amy Lee, Washington’s Ying Luo, Baylor’s Laura Lonardi and UCLA’s Bronte Law.
Senior Jan Chanpalangsri, senior Claudia Lim and sophomore Jessica Porvasnik tied for 43rd after the first round, recording a 5-over 76. Redshirt sophomore Zoe-Beth Brake and sophomore Katja Pogacar each tallied a 7-over 77.
Competing as individuals, freshman Rio Watanabe also posted a 5-over 76 on the afternoon, while junior Lina Aguillon totaled an 80 (+9) in the first round of competition.
