COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State limited Northern Illinois to 26.8 percent shooting in a 67-54 win Wednesday evening at Value City Arena.
Jae’Sean Tate paced the Buckeyes with 17 points and 10 rebounds while Keita Bates-Diop tallied 14 points and 10 boards. Trevor Thompson scored 10 points, pulled down eight rebounds and blocked three shots.
Marin Maric led Northern Illinois with 17 points and nine rebounds while Marshawn Wilson came off the bench to add 16 points.
The game was tied at 44 apiece at the 11:33 mark of the second half before JaQuan Lyle found Tate for a three-point play and Kam Williams drilled a 3-pointer to extend the lead to six. The Huskies would get no closer than four the rest of the way as the Buckeyes evened their record at 5-5.
Ohio State takes on No. 4 Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
