MIAMI (AP) Shaq Goodwin scored 23 points and put Memphis ahead to stay with a basket to open overtime, helping the Tigers beat Ohio State 81-76 in the HoopHall Miami Invitational on Friday night.
Dedric Lawson and Ricky Tarrant Jr. each scored 16 points for Memphis (3-2), which held Ohio State to 0-for-6 shooting in the extra session. Avery Woodson scored 11 for the Tigers.
JaQuan Lyle scored 18, Marc Loving finished with 17 and Keita Bates-Diop added 10 for Ohio State (2-3).
Memphis went up 75-70 with 2:25 left in regulation on Goodwin’s three-point play, before Ohio State rallied in a game that was back and forth throughout. Tate scored at the rim to get the Buckeyes within three, and Bates-Diop’s 3-pointer with just under a minute remaining knotted the game at 75.
Both teams missed wild tries in the last 10 seconds of regulation, and that sent it to overtime.
