Athletes of the Week
- Danny Jensen, Men’s Soccer
- Jensen scored the game-winning goal against No. 15 Kentucky on Wednesday and assisted on both Buckeye goals in a 2-0 win over Wisconsin on Sunday.
- Taylor Sandbothe, Women’s Volleyball
- Sandbothe produced 4.17 points per set as the Buckeyes stretched their current conference winning streak to seven with a pair of victories over the weekend. Sandbothe attacked .424 while averaging 3.33 kills and .78 blocks per set. She opened the weekend by racking up 21 points in a battle for first place in the Big Ten against Purdue (16 kills, two aces, four blocks) and remained hot on Sunday with 14 more kills at a .565 attacking clip against Indiana.
No. 1 Football (7-0, 3-0 B1G)
- On Saturday night, for the first time ever, the Buckeyes donned black uniforms on the gridiron in their 38-10 win over Penn State. Ezekiel Elliott rushed for over 100 yards for the 12th consecutive game, while J.T. Barrett added two touchdowns on the ground and two through the air in the victory.
No. 7 Women’s Volleyball (18-2, 7-1 B1G)
- Ohio State kept rolling last week, winning both of its matches and capturing a share of first place in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes took down Purdue on Friday night in five sets before beating Indiana on Sunday.
- In Friday’s victory over the Boilermakers, Ohio State delivered a season-high 13 aces. Individually, Luisa Schirmer contributed five.
- Against the Hoosiers, Taylor Sandbothe and Elizabeth Campbell combined for 29 kills in a four-set victory.
No. 15 Men’s Soccer (8-4-2, 3-1-1 B1G)
- Ohio State claimed a program-record seventh-consecutive win Sunday against Wisconsin, blanking the Badgers 2-0 to move into sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.
- Jensen’s goal in the 56th minute was all the Buckeyes needed to topple No. 15 Kentucky on the road on Wednesday.
- The Buckeyes have not trailed in a match in a span of 828:53, since the beginning of the second half at No. 11 Akron on Sept. 16.
Women’s Soccer (9-4-3, 4-3-2 B1G)
- Ohio State picked up a 2-1 win at Indiana on Sunday. Michela Paradiso netted the game-winner in the 85th minute.
Field Hockey (8-6, 4-2 B1G)
- Peanut Johnson (two goals, one assist) and Maddy Humphrey (one goal) provided the offense while a stout Ohio State defense, led by nine saves from goalie Liz Tamburro, kept Iowa off the scoreboard over the final 30 minutes of the second half in a 3-1 win over the Hawkeyes Sunday in Iowa City.
Cross Country
- All five Buckeye scorers ran personal-best 8k times for the men’s cross country team Saturday at Pre-Nationals. In a race that featured 12 ranked teams, Evan Stifel led Ohio State with a 69th-place finish in a time of 24:07.9, trimming a massive 40 seconds off of his previous 8k PR.
- Sakiko Minagawa led the Ohio State women at the adidas Invitational on Friday with an 84th-place finish in a personal-best 6k time of 20:50.8.
