Joey Bosa, junior defensive end
On notching his first sack of the season against Maryland
“It’s good to get there obviously, it’s what defensive lineman go for every game, but it’s not my main concern. Of course it’s good to get it out of the way, but I’m not really worried about it as long as the defense as a whole is playing well.”
On the matchup with Penn State
“I remember watching their first game this season and it’s nowhere close to how they look now, they’re really coming together and looking like a really good team. And of course with the quarterback they have and the fact that they’re Penn State, they’re going to get their stuff together.”
On facing more of a pure pocket passer as opposed to a mobile quarterback
“The last couple weeks they’ve just been stepping up in the pocket every time and [Penn State quarterback Christian] Hackenberg really likes to sit in the pocket. He’s a great passer, a real pro-style quarterback. He’s not as afraid of pressure as the last couple quarterbacks we’ve faced, so hopefully he’ll sit back in the pocket a little longer.”
Tyvis Powell, junior defensive back
On the black uniforms the team will be wearing this Saturday
“The stadium’s going to be blacked out, it’s going to be a good environment, I can’t wait to see how it goes. Plus it’s a big game for us. But I just appreciate the jersey, period. Just being able to put on the Ohio State jersey is good enough.”
On the defense’s performance against Maryland
“We did get the win, so that is something to celebrate, but we just know that we have to get better in case we face another mobile quarterback, we have to have a better answer for that.”
Raekwon McMillan, sophomore linebacker
On where the defense is right now
“We’re only six games into the season, we plan to be playing a lot more football. So right now I think we’re right where we need to be, but we still need to keep progressing if we’re going to get to where we want to be.”
On getting back on track after giving up 170 rushing yards to Maryland quarterback Perry Hills
“We have to get better every week. Every offense is going to try to do something different to us. His speed was deceiving, I have to tip my hat to him. We took some angles that he outran and I have to give him his props, he did a great job.”
Braxton Miller, senior wide receiver
On his transition to wide receiver
“I feel like I’m ahead of schedule. I feel comfortable making plays, blocking. I just feel good.”
On his touchdown catch last Saturday
“It felt good being involved in the offense and making plays for the guys, being electrifying for the fans and getting back to being my old self.”
