PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Ohio State women’s golf team capped the 19th-annual Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge Tuesday with a third-round score 304 and finished the tournament in 16th with a 913. The competitive tournament, which featured 14 teams ranked in the top 50, was played on the par 71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif.
No. 1 Southern California broke the tournament’s team record by tallying a three-day score of 14-over 866. No. 3 Duke finished second with an 873 and No. 7 Arizona State took third at 875. USC’s Annie Park captured the individual title with a 6-under 207 and was stroke off the tournament record.
Freshman Jessica Porvasnik finished tied for 28th to lead the Buckeyes after carding rounds of 75-74-74 for a three-day total of 10-over 223. Junior Claudia Lim and freshman Zoe-Beth Brake each came in tied for 49th with a 15-over 228. Lim improved each day with rounds of 77-76-75. Brake, who competed as an individual, had an excellent final day and totaled a 1-over 72 to go with scores of 78 in the first and second rounds.
Freshman Katja Pogacar tied for 63rd with a 231 (77-79-75), while junior Jan Chanpalangsri finished tied 68th with a 232 (75-78-80). Senior Allison Harper carded a 236 and freshman Ileen Domela totaled a 240.
The Buckeyes will travel to Peoria, Ariz., Feb. 23-24, to participate in the Westbrook Spring Invitational.
