Boren a second-team Academic All-American – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior center Jacoby Boren (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America second team as announced today by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
To be eligible for the award, a player must be in at least his second year of athletic eligibility, be a first-team or key performer and carry a cumulative 3.30 grade point average (GPA).
Boren, a Sustainable Plant Systems major, is in his third year with the Buckeye football program. He has blossomed as a first-year starter at center, starting all 12 regular-season games while helping to anchor an offensive line for an offense that ranked fifth in the NCAA in scoring (44.1 ppg) and 11th in both total offense (503.4) and rushing (257.4).
Boren has been named a Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar for having an overall grade point average above 3.70, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.
Barrett a finalist for Manning Award
J.T. Barrett, who already has been named the Big Ten Conference’s quarterback of the year and its freshman of the year this week, has been named one of 10 finalists for the Manning Award, which goes to the nation’s top quarterback. The award is presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The winner will be announced after the bowls in January and will be honored at a ceremony in New Orleans.
Bosa a Ted Hendricks Award finalist
Joey Bosa is one of six finalists for the Ted Hendricks Award, presented by the Ted Hendricks Foundation to the nation’s top defensive end. The winner will be announced Dec. 11. Bosa, the Big Ten’s defensive player of the year and its defensive lineman of the year, is a finalist for two other major awards: the Bednarik Award and the Lombardi Trophy.
