COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 20 Ohio State men’s basketball team defeated Walsh, 77-37, in an exhibition contest Sunday evening in front of 13,345 fans at Value City Arena.
Four players scored in double digits for the Buckeyes vs. the Cavaliers. Freshman D’Angelo Russell scored a game-high 17 points, while also collecting eight rebounds and six assists. Senior Sam Thompson tallied 13 points with a team-best three blocks and freshman Jae’Sean Tate tabbed 10 points with eight boards. Sophomore Marc Loving added 12 points with seven rebounds for the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes posted a 48-19 lead at the half. Russell paced the Buckeyes with 16 points in the first half, connecting on four of five field goals beyond the arc. Thompson also reached double figures with 10 points in the first, while the team shot 55 percent from the field with eight players scoring. Defensively, the Buckeyes collected seven blocks and two steals in the first half.
Ohio State opens the 2014 season at home this Friday, Nov. 14 vs. Massachusetts-Lowell. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Value City Arena.
