COLUMBUS, Ohio – The #20 Ohio State University women’s volleyball team dropped just its second home match of the season Friday night, falling to #2 Wisconsin in there sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-22). The Badgers maintain their lead atop the Big Ten standings at 17-1 (26-2 overall) while Ohio State moves to 19-11, 10-8.
Sophomore Taylor Sandbothe excelled offensively and defensively with nine kills at a .500 attacking rate (9-1-16) and match-high five blocks (1s, 4a). Freshman Erin Chatman made an impact as well, checking into the match and delivering kills on each of her first three swings.
Elizabeth Campbell tallied 10 kills on the night, marking her 15th contest of 10 or more kills, including the last six straight matches.
Wisconsin was in a groove throughout the first two sets en route to 25-17 and 25-15 tallies while attacking over .300 in each.
The Buckeyes came out of intermission on a mission. Ohio State seized the first three points and 11 of 17 to force a Wisconsin timeout. OSU remained on top until a kill by Lauren Carlini gave the Badgers their first lead of the set at 17-16. Sandbothe countered immediately with back-to-back kills to pull back ahead 18-17. A 4-0 UW run moments later swung the pendulum once again, guiding the Badgers to a match-clinching 25-22 tally.
Ohio State wraps up its 2014 home slate on Wednesday (Nov. 26), hosting Minnesota in a 7 pm ET match.
