Breakfast presented by Marathon will head to OSU’s campus and focus on Columbus’ unique connection to sports broadcasting on a national level
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In partnership with The Ohio State University Athletic Department, the Greater Columbus Sports Commission will host its 10th annual The Morning Sports Report, presented by Marathon. The breakfast, including a VIP reception prior to, will be hosted on the university’s campus in the Archie M. Griffin Ballroom at the Ohio Union Tuesday, June 25 from 7-9:15 a.m.
Along with a first-time appearance by Ohio State Head Football Coach Urban Meyer, the sports commission will bring together former Buckeyes and national sports broadcasters in Clark Kellogg, Kirk Herbstreit, Eddie George and Chris Spielman as a keynote panel for The Morning Sports Report. The panel will provide insight into their broadcasting careers after playing for the Buckeyes and what it has taken to become some of the best in their profession.
Meyer along with OSU Athletics Director Gene Smith will provide a sports outlook for several sports during the 2013-14 academic year, including a preview of the football team coming of an undefeated 12-0 season. The breakfast will also feature interviews with:
- Columbus Blue Jackets President of Hockey Operations John Davidson
- Columbus Clippers President and General Manager Ken Schnacke
- Columbus Crew President and General Manager Mark McCullers
- Ohio Machine President John Algie
- the Memorial Tournament Executive Director Dan Sullivan
The Crew will host the FIFA World Cup Qualifier between the U.S. and Mexico in September and, will also provide updates on The Presidents Cup. Greater Columbus Sports Commission Executive Director Linda Shetina Logan will share more about the USA Fencing National Championships and Bowling’s U.S. Open coming to Columbus this summer, along with a new strategic plan for championship event bidding with the NCAA.

- $100 for an individual VIP seat with one ticket to the VIP reception
- $800 for a table for ten that includes two tickets to the VIP reception with sports celebrities, and;
- $1,500 for a VIP table for ten that includes ten (10) tickets to the VIP reception with sports celebrities
The Greater Columbus Sports Commission (GCSC) is the only organization 100% focused on attracting sporting events to Columbus. In the last decade, the GCSC has bid on and brought more than 225 new sporting events to Columbus that have generated an estimated $250 million in visitor spending, while retaining annual bid events that have generated an additional $180 million.
