COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 18 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team tallied a season best in a 196.850-194.300 victory over Bridgeport on Senior Day Saturday in St. John Arena. The score marks the fourth-highest score in program history.
The Buckeyes opened the meet on vault, winning the event 49.150-48.900. Sarah Miller won the event and paced the Buckeyes with a 9.900 while Aly Marohn and Melanie Shaffer each tallied a 9.850 to tie for third.
Ohio State then moved to bars in the second rotation, posting a season-best 49.300 to defeat the Purple Knights’ 47.850. Marohn won the event with a career-best 9.950 while Maddie Herr finished second with a career-high 9.875 and Victoria Aepli finished third, tying her career-best 9.850.
The Buckeyes then tied their season best in the next rotation with a 49.100 to top Bridgeport’s 48.500.Miller took first with a 9.900 while Herr took second with a 9.825.
Ohio State finished the meet on floor exercise, posting another season high to top Bridgeport 49.300-49.050. Shaffer posted a season-high 9.925 to win the event tallied a 9.900 to finish second.
Shaffer posted a career-best 39.400 to take the all-around title while Marohn also tallied a career-high 39.375 to finish second.
The Buckeyes conclude the regular season with a 7 p.m. ET meet at Minnesota March 16.
