COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 20 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team posted a team season best but fell to No. 3 Michigan, 196.925-196.250, Friday evening in St. John Arena.
The Buckeyes opened the meet on vault, where Sarah Miller led the Buckeyes with a 9.850 to finish third. Michigan took the event, 49.250-49.000.
In the second rotation, Ohio State moved to vault, posting a season-best 49.100 as Aly Marohn tied for the event title with a career-best 9.900.
After two rotations, Michigan held a 98.625-98.100 advantage.
Ohio State then moved to beam where the team posted a 48.950. Miller tied for the event title with a 9.875 while Victoria Aepli finished third with a career-best 9.850.
The Buckeyes finished the meet on floor, narrowly falling to the Wolverines, 49.250-49.200. Miller finished second with a 9.900 while Aepli notched another career best with a 9.875 to take third.
Melanie Shaffer took second in the all-around with a career-best 39.275 while Marohn also tallied a career-best 39.125 to finish third.
The Buckeyes take on Michigan State at 5 p.m. Feb. 16 in East Lansing. The meet will be televised live on BTN.
