No. 21 Ohio State Opens Home Schedule With 194.925-194.200 Win Over Iowa – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 21 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team topped Iowa, 194.925-194.200, in its home opener Saturday afternoon at St. John Arena.
Sarah Miller led the Buckeyes to tie for first on vault with a 9.900 while Aly Marohn recorded a season-best 9.850 to finish third. Ohio State narrowly took the vault title, 49.075-49.050.
In the second rotation, Melanie Shaffer placed first on bars with a career-best 9.850 while Marohn took second with a 9.800 as Ohio State won the event, 48.850-48.750. After two rotations, the Buckeyes held a 97.925-97.800 advantage over the Hawkeyes.
Ohio State moved to beam in the third rotation where Miller tallied a 9.850 to take the event title. Shaffer, Marohn and Sarah Grady each posted a 9.675. Ohio State won the event, 48.425-47.650, but Iowa took a 146.550-146.350 lead into the final rotation.
Miller placed first on floor exercise with a season-best 9.925 while Shaffer set a season high with a 9.900 to finish second. However, Iowa took the event, 48.750-48.575.
Shaffer took the all-around title with a season-best 39.250.
Up next, the Buckeyes take on Nebraska at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 in St. John Arena.
