With the 5-0 start, Meyer becomes the third first-year OhioState coach to start their career 5-0. Only two other first-yearcoaches have started a season 5-0: Carol Widdoes went 9-0 in 1944and eventually won his first 12 games; and Earle Bruce opened 11-0in 1979. Meyer improves to 39-4 in September in his head coachingcareer. Meyer improves to 11-0 all-time in conference openers inhis head coaching career. Meyer is 95-5 in his career when leadingat halftime in his head coaching career. Meyer is 66-14 whencoaching a ranked team. Meyer is 34-13 on the road. Meyer is 22-10vs. ranked teams. SERIES NOTES
Saturday marked the 41st meeting between Ohio State andMichigan State. Ohio State leads the all-time series, 28-13. OhioState has won eight of the last nine meetings overall and seven ofthe last eight at Spartan Stadium. Ohio State is 14-5 all-timeagainst the Spartans in East Lansing.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
BraxtonMiller finished with 136 yards rushing on 23 carries. He passedfor 179 yards, completing 16 of 23 passes with one INT. Miller hasthree games this season with 100 or more yards rushing and six forhis career. Corey “Philly” Brown caught a career-high 12 passes for84 yards. It marks the first 10-reception game for a Buckeye sinceTed Ginn, Jr. caught 10 in 2006 vs. Bowling Green. The Ohio Staterecord for receptions in a game is 14 by David Boston in 1997. The12 receptions tied for fourth all-time for receptions in a game atOhio State. Ohio State scored on its opening drive for the secondtime this season, going 75 yards in eight plays on the openingdrive of the game. Jordan Hall scored his first TD of the season on a 1-yardplunge to open the game. Ohio State has scored 15- consecutivetimes in the red zone. The Buckeyes finished with 204 rushing yardson 44 carries. Ohio State had 383 yards in total offense.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
The Ohio State defense held MSU’s Le’Veon Bell, the nation’sthird-leading rusher with 152.5 yards per game, to a season-low 45yards on 17 carries. He had just 24 yards on eight carries in thefirst half. The Ohio State defense did not allow Michigan State togain a first down rushing. The Buckeyes had 14 rushing first downsto finish with 21. MSU had 17 total, three by penalty.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
BradleyRoby blocked his first career punt late in the second quarter.The last time Ohio State blocked a punt was Ryan Shazier last season in the win over Wisconsin.
