The Ohio State Department of Athletics held the 45th-annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner May 16 in the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom at the Ohio Union to honor its student-athletes for their academic and athletic accomplishments. A record 548 Ohio State Scholar-Athletes were recognized at the event and a number of senior awards were given out.
Ohio State has placed four student-athletes on the 2012 CapitalOne Academic All-District At-Large teams for district five, CoSIDAannounced. All three Buckeye men nominated earned a spot on thefirst team – gymnast Michael Newburger, swimmer Andrew Elliott and men’s hockey defenseman Sean Duddy, while rower Ulrike Denker was honored on the women’s side. All four move onto the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first,second and third team All-America honorees will be selected laterthis month.

Ohio State defeated Toledo, 10-1, as head coach Greg Beals earned his 300th career win on Columbus City SchoolsDay May 15 at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium.
Ohio State baseball team dropped a 10-8 decision to Indiana May 17at Sembower Field.
Ohio State fell to Indiana, 5-0, May 18 at Sembower Field.
Ohio State dropped its series finale to Indiana, 4-2, May 19 atSembower Field. Despite the loss, the Buckeyes earned the No. 6seed in the 2012 Big Ten tournament on a record against commonopponents tiebreaker after Illinois fell to Minnesota in its seriesfinale in Champaign.

Ohio State placed 12th at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regionaltournament May 19 after recording a 9-over 293 in the final roundof action. The Buckeyes carded an overall total of 43-over 895 onthe par-71, 6,723-yard University of Michigan Golf Course in AnnArbor, Mich.
Softball (31-23, 10-13 Big Ten)
Ohio State senior shortstop Alicia Herron and freshman catcher Shelby Pickett were named third team All-Big Ten selections,the league office announced May 16. Herron, a native of Cypress,Calif., becomes the sixth Buckeye in Ohio State softball history toearn four-consecutive league honors, while Pickett claims her firstcareer conference accolade.
Just one day after earning Third Team All-Big Ten honors, Herronwas named a First Team NFCA All-Midwest selection, the NationalFastpitch Coaches Association announced May 17.
No. 3 Men’s Tennis (34-4, 11-0 Big Ten)

ChaseBuchanan, a senior on the Ohio State men’s tennis team, wasnamed Midwest Region Senior of the Year the Intercollegiate TennisAssociation (ITA) announced. Justin Kronauge was lauded with regional assistant coach of theyear honors.
No. 5 seed Ohio State improved to 34-3 on the season after beatingNo. 12 Florida 4-1 May 18 in an NCAA Division I Men’s TennisChampionship Round of 16 match in Athens, Ga.
No. 5 seed Ohio State lost to No. 4 UCLA 4-2 May 20 in thequarterfinals of the 2012 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championshipin Athens, Ga. The Buckeyes conclude the season with a 34-4 overallrecord after advancing to their seventh consecutive NCAAquarterfinal.
