Athletes of the Week Women’s hockey sophomore forward Taylor Kuehl scored twice for the Buckeyes in a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin Nov. 17. She got her first score at 12:35 of the opening period and followed it up with another at the 8:46 mark of the second to put the Buckeyes up 2-0. Kuehl, a native of Minnetrista, Minn., has a team-leading 11 goals this season, including nine in her last eight games. She has scored at least one goal in every series this season.
Men’s basketball junior forward Deshaun Thomas led the Buckeyes to a championship at the Hallof Fame Tip-Off Tournament Nov. 17-18. Thomas scored a career-high31 points against Washington and tallied 25 against Rhode Island toaverage 28.0 points per game over two contests at the BasketballHall of Fame Classic. He also grabbed 10 boards against RhodeIsland and eight vs. the Huskies to average 9.0 rebounds percontest over the weekend. Additionally, Thomas shot 55.3 percent(21-for-38) from the field, including 46.2 percent (6-for-13) fromlong range.
No. 3 Men’s Basketball (3-0, 0-0 Big Ten)

Ohio State defeated Rhode Island, 69-58, in the Hall of FameTip-Off Tournament in Uncasville, Conn., Nov. 17.
Junior forward Deshaun Thomas scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in thewin, while junior guard Lenzelle Smith Jr. added 15 points andjunior guard Aaron Craft had 13 points and four assists.
The Buckeyes returned to the court on Sunday, Nov. 18, defeatingWashington, 77-66, to win the championship of the Hall of FameTip-Off Tournament.
Thomas tied a career-high with 31 points, 21 of which came duringthe first half. He also grabbed eight rebounds to lead theteam.
Aaron Craft added 18 points for the Buckeyes while seniorforward Evan Ravenel chipped in 12.
Ohio State returns to the court on Friday, Nov. 23 hosting UMKC ina 6 p.m. tip at Value City Arena.
No. 16 Women’s Basketball (2-1, 0-0 Big Ten)

Ohio State defeated Cincinnati, 87-49, Wednesday in the homeopener at Value City Arena.
Senior guard Tayler Hill led three Buckeyes in double-figures with 21 pointsand five assists. Redshirt-senior guard Amber Stokes and sophomore guard Raven Ferguson both chipped in with 16 points apiece whilejunior center Ashley Adams turned in a solid all-around performance withseven points, seven assists, 10 rebounds and three blocks in 27minutes.
The Scarlet and Gray returned to action at St. John Arena Nov. 17,defeating Winthrop by a score of 78-53.
A trio of Buckeyes in Tayler Hill (16), Darryce Moore (16) and Ashley Adams (14) scored in double digits to lead Ohio State toits 14th victory at St. John Arena since the 2004-05 season.
The Buckeyes return to action Nov. 20 against St. Francis (Pa.) at7 p.m. and against Wright State Nov. 25 at 1 p.m. Both games willbe held at Value City Arena.
Men’s Cross Country

Senior Donny Roys closed his Ohio State career with a 118th-placefinish at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Louisville,Ky., Nov. 16.
A native of Medina, Ohio, Roys crossed the finish line in 30:53.6,five seconds off of a personal best.
Kennedy Kithuka of Texas Tech won the individual title in a time of28:31.3. Oklahoma State captured the team title with 72points.
No. 4 Football (11-0, 7-0 Big Ten)

Ohio State won the Leaders Division crown outright with a 21-14overtime win over Wisconsin in Madison, Saturday.
The Buckeyes remain just one of two unbeaten teams in the FBS(Notre Dame).
With 145 total yards of offense (97 passing, 48 rushing), sophomorequarterback Braxton Miller became the third different Buckeye to record atleast 3,000 yards of total offense in a season (Hoying 3,290 in1995; Germaine 3,247 in 1998). Miller now has 3,064 yards of totaloffense.
Junior runningback Carlos Hyde rushed for 87 yards and scored 2 TDs. He has rushedfor 666 yards and has scored 14 TDs in his last six games.
Sophomore linebacker Ryan Shazier went over 100 tackles for this season finishingthe game with 12. Saturday’s game marked his sixth game of theseason with 10 or more tackles, while his fourth quarter forcedfumble was his third forced fumble of the season and fifth of hiscareer.
Senior defensive lineman John Simon recorded 4.0 TFLs, moving him into 8th place on theall-time Ohio State TFL list. Simon also tied a career-high withfour sacks matching the number he had against Illinois Oct 15,2011.
The Buckeyes return to action Nov. 24 facing rival Michigan at OhioStadium in a noon kickoff. The game will air on ABC.
Men’s Hockey (4-3-3, 3-1-2-1 CCHA)

Ohio State continued its home slate with a series against No.19 Northern Michigan Nov. 16-17.
The Buckeyes played to a 2-0 win over the Wildcats on Friday night,as senior goalie Brady Hjelle stopped all 20 shots he faced for his secondshutout of the season, while junior Travis Statchuk and sophomore Max McCormick scored for the Buckeyes and sophomore Ryan Dzingel had two assists.
Third-period goals from juniors Alex Szczechura and Chris Crane lifted Ohio State to a 4-2 victory and series sweepof Northern Michigan on Saturday night.
Redshirt freshman Riley Simpson and Ryan Dzingel scored back-to-back power play goals in a 1:42span to give Ohio State the 2-1 lead early in the secondperiod.
The Buckeyes will hit the road for the next two series, skating atLake Superior State Nov. 23-24 and at Michigan State Nov. 30 – Dec.1.
No. 8 Women’s Hockey (10-4-0, 8-4-0 WCHA)

Ohio State played its first ever series at Value City Arenaagainst Wisconsin Nov. 16-17.
The Buckeyes were upset in the first game of the series, falling tothe Badgers, 4-2. Freshman forward Julia McKinnon scored her fifth goal of the season at the 4:51mark in period two, while sophomore forward Danielle Gagne scored her third goal of the season for theScarlet and Gray at the 8:50 mark in the second period.
Redshirt junior goaltender Chelsea Knapp made 31 saves for Ohio State and held Wisconsinto an 0-6 mark on the power play.
The Buckeyes earned the series split with a 3-1 victory over theBadgers Nov. 17.
Sophomore forward Taylor Kuehl scored two goals (she now has nine goals in thelast four series) while Knapp stopped 33 shots.
McKinnon scored for the third consecutive game to seal the Buckeyevictory.
Ohio State next travels to Princeton, N.J. for a non-conferencetilt at Princeton, Nov. 23-24.
Pistol
Head Coach: James Sweeney
Ohio State defeated Akron, 5,374-4,177 at the Buckeye Corral atthe Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Range Nov. 17.
The Buckeyes swept all three events against the Zips and were ledby junior A.J. Tourigny in free pistol (30-shot) who took first placewith a score of 262, sophomore Greyson McCaig who took first place in standard pistol with ascore of 542 and junior Joe Totts who placed first in air pistol with a score of554.
The Buckeyes also swept both events in women’s competition, led byjunior Kimberly Hullings who placed first in both sport and airpistol. Hullings tallied a 371 in sport pistol (40-shot) and a 358in air pistol for an overall aggregate score of 729.
Ohio State next returns to action Dec. 1-2 at The Citadel inCharleston, S.C. Matches are set to begin at 8 a.m. bothdays.
No. 22 Men’s Swimming and Diving
Head Coach: Bill Wadley
Ohio State competed at the Cleveland State Invitational Nov.16-18, finishing in fourth place overall.
After the second day of competition, the Buckeyes climbed intothird-place with 730 total points. Led by a runner-up performancein the 100 backstroke by junior Michael Gallagher, the Scarlet and Gray held strong despitecompeting with a reduced lineup.
Fellow Buckeye Michael Meldon followed closely behind Gallagher in third-placewith a time of 51.68. The pair added 41 points to Ohio State’stotal with their combined effort.
The 200 medley relay of Gallagher, Jared Kauffman, Gavin Trebilcock and Meldon kicked off the night with afifth-place showing. The group finished in a time of 1:34.61.
Ohio State has a brief break in action before hosting the OhioState Invitational Nov. 30-Dec. 2.

No. 5 Wrestling

Ohio State opened the dual season with a 40-3 win at DavidsonNov. 15.
The Buckeyes scored 40 points for the first time since defeatingFindlay, 42-3, Nov. 22, 2009 in Columbus during the Buckeyeduals.
Senior Nikko Triggas, redshirt sophomore Randy Languis and redshirt senior C.J. Magrum provided six points each to the team score withpins, while redshirt sophomore Logan Stieber added a technical fall at 133 pounds and freshmanMark Martin and redshirt junior Peter Capone scored major decisions at 165 pounds andheavyweight, respectively.
Ohio State next traveled to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia TechNov. 17. Holding on to an 11-10 lead with four matches remaining,the Scarlet and Gray won four consecutive bouts between 174 poundsand heavyweight to pull out a 23-10 victory.
The Buckeyes clinched their second dual win of the season onC.J. Magrum’s 7-4 decision over Derrick Borlie in the 197-poundmatch.
Logan Stieber put the Buckeyes on the board when he recorded a19-4 technical fall over Erik Spjut at 133 pounds.
In their third dual match of the weekend, the Buckeyes defeated No.18 Pittsburgh by a score of 26-13.
In all, Ohio State won six of 10 matches and had a 23-0 lead at thehalfway mark. Back-to-back pins by senior Nikko Triggas and Logan Stieber at 125 and 133 pounds, respectively, immediatelygave the Buckeyes a 12-0 advantage. Sophomores Hunter Stieber and Cam Tessari along with redshirt sophomore Josh Demas and redshirt junior Nick Heflin all put points on the board for the Buckeyes.
Up next, Ohio State will travel to Las Vegas, Nev., for the CKLVInvitational Nov. 30-Dec. 1. The Buckeyes’ next home match is at 7p.m. Dec. 14 vs. Kent State in St. John Arena.
No. 14 Women’s Volleyball (22-8, 13-5 Big Ten)

Ohio State traveled to No. 21 Purdue and came away with a 3-0(25-19, 29-27, 25-11) sweep of the Boilermakers Nov. 16 in WestLafayette, Ind.
Senior Mari Hole led all student-athletes with 17 kills and totaled 10digs for her 16th double-double of the season. Junior Kaitlyn Leary notched 14 kills in the win while classmateDavionna DiSalvatore had a team-high 11 digs.
Senior Amanda Peterson finished with 25 assists for theBuckeyes.
Ohio State also traveled to Indiana Nov. 17, earning its 22nd winof the season with a 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 26-28, 25-23) victory overthe Hoosiers.
Mari Hole became the 20th Buckeye in program history to notch1,000 kills after picking up 24 to lead all attackers.
Hole is the third-fastest to reach 1,000 behind former BuckeyesVanessa Wouters (1996-97) and Stacy Gordon (2001-04).
Leary had 16 kills and three blocks in the match, while seniorMariah Booth added 10 kills with three blocks. DiSalvatore hada match-high 16 digs and sophomore Anna Faul totaled six block assists.
The Buckeyes close out the 2012 regular season next week, travelingto No. 1 Penn State and hosting Michigan. Ohio State and theNittany Lions face off Wednesday, Nov. 21, in State College at 7p.m. ET. The Buckeyes then host the Wolverines Friday, Nov. 23, at7 p.m. ET in St. John Arena. Ohio State’s match vs. Michigan willalso serve as senior night for the team’s four seniors.
