Miller to start Saturday vs. Colorado – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio — True freshman quarterback Braxton Miller will make his first career start Saturday against Colorado, head coach Luke Fickell confirmed today on his radio show.
Miller has completed 62.5 percent of his passes (10 of 16) for 152 yards with one TD and one INT and has a passer efficiency rating of 150.4 in two games. Miller completed 8 of 12 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown in the season opener Sept. 3 against Akron. He sat out the Toledo game in Week 2 with an injury. Miller also has carried 13 times for 62 yards.
“(We wanted to) give him a shot,” Fickell said. “But we know we will need both of them (Joe Bauserman). You’ve got to make sure you can handle these things in the locker room, and how you handle them professionally is really important for the team, and that’s why we didn’t make a big deal of it. But I know it is a big deal.
“Braxton has a lot of ability and we’re going to give him some opportunities to play with his ability. It’s what we think right now the team needs and the way we’re continuing to move forward. There are some things, obviously, that Joe can still do. So we’re not just focused on one guy.”
The Huber Heights, Ohio native will be the first freshman quarterback to start for the Buckeyes since Terrelle Pryor in 2008. Pryor also started his first game in Week 4 that season.
