COLUMBUS, Ohio –
On Sept. 19 the Ohio State University department of athletics held its annual all student-athlete meeting at the Archie Griffin Ball room in the new Ohio Union.
Approximately 1,000 Buckeyes from all 36 sports convened to meet and mingle while also absorbing important messages from current and former student-athletes as well as director of athletics and university vice president Gene Smith.
Smith, AD since 2005, spoke to the unique opportunities Ohio State student-athletes have and the virtues they are expected to uphold as Buckeyes.
Current football player DeVier Posey and former basketball great Michael Redd offered their perspectives on the time they spent competing at the highest level for Ohio State. Posey shared what he has learned and emphasized all the resources OSU has to help student-athletes succeed on and off the field.
Redd reiterated parts of Smith’s speech, reminding the current Buckeyes how special it is to be here at Ohio State – – “the greatest university in the country.”
